The Reserve Forces (Payments to Employers and Partners) Regulations 2014 have been published and will be effective from 1st October, 2014.

The current situation if a military reservist is called up is that they are paid directly by the Ministry of Defence. Employers are able to claim expenses from the Ministry of Defence for additional costs incurred in replacing their employee to a maximum of £110 per day.

From 1st October, 2014, small and medium sized employers will also be able to receive a sum of up to £500 per month for each full month a reservist employee is away from the workplace. This figure will be reduced pro rata for part of a month or if the reservist works part-time.
