Posted on by

The new rates for the National Minimum Wage (NMW) have been announced and confirmed by the Government to take effect from 1st October, 2015 as follows:
  • NMW for adults increases to £6.70/hour (a 20p/3% increase)
  • NMW for 18-20 year olds increases to £5.30/hour (a 17p/3% increase)
  • NMW for 16-17 year olds increases to £3.87/hour (an 8p/2% increase)
  • NMW for apprentices increases to £3.30/hour (a 57p/20% increase)
The 3% increase in the adult NMW is the biggest rise since 2008 in real terms and the 20% increase for apprentices is far in excess of the increase recommended by the Low Pay Commission of 2.6%.
