Plans to Introduce Right to Request Flexible Working for All Employees DelayedPosted on by Angela Rhodes
The Government had intended to introduce the right to request flexible working arrangements to be extended to all employees with effect from 6th April, 2014.
However, due to delays to the Children and Families Bill, the House of Commons has agreed a new target date of 21st March, 2014 for Royal Assent of the Children and Families Bill which will in turn delay the extension of the right to request flexible working to all employees. The current situation is that only employees with children aged 17 or under, or 18 if the child is disabled, or employees with caring responsibilities for an adult have the right to make a request for flexible working arrangements with their employer.
The Government have said they hope to implement the extension of this right to all employees at “an appropriate date as soon as possible this year”.
