Mental Health Awareness Week – Half-day Mental Health Awareness Course

Posted on by

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme is kindness.

It is well reported that many people are struggling with mental health issues that have either been caused by or exacerbated by the lock down as a result of COVID-19.

What can you do to help you colleagues?

Encourage conversations on mental health – make contact with your employees who are either working at home or on furlough leave and ask them how they are feeling and coping. They may be feeling isolated and disconnected. Ask them if they have any concerns that you may be able to help them with. Be kind to them.

It is a frightening statistic that one in four adults in England will experience mental ill-health every year. Crispin Rhodes has been offering two-day mental health first aid courses in conjunction with Mental Health First Aid England for some time now. You may not have the capacity in the current circumstances for a two-day course but how about an introductory 4-hour course which takes place in a virtual classroom via zoom?

The course will provide you with:
  • An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma
  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
  • An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining well-being
  • Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
The course normally costs £125 plus VAT but is being made available at £100 plus VAT.

Just think who might benefit from this. Is this a course that you could offer to furloughed staff – they are not permitted to do any work for you whilst on furlough leave but they can do training.

Email us if you are interested and we’ll get back to you with availability.
