Consultation Launched on Workers’ Rights Body

Posted on by

Greg Clark, Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Secretary has launched consultation on a new single labour market enforcement body with the aim of making it easier for employees to obtain help and information in relation to their rights, together with offering businesses support with employment law.

The proposals are that the new body will have authority to enforce minimum wage and holiday pay, deal with the exploitation of labour and modern slavery and oversee agency workers, together with whether rules should be enforced in relation to bullying and harassment in the workplace.

This is all part of the Government’s Good Work Plan which was developed in response to the Taylor Review which considered the requirement for better quality of work, particularly for vulnerable workers and those engaged in the gig economy.
