With 2011 now well underway, this month we look at the timetable for scrapping the Default Retirement Age, changes to exemptions for childcare vouchers, changes to how the right to request time off for training affects businesses with less than 250 employees and figures from the Office for National Statistics which show sickness is on the increase. Scrapping the Default Retirement Age

The Default Retirement Age will be phased out over a transitional period ending 30th September with the Employment Equality (Repeal of Retirement Age) Regulations being introduced from 6th April.

From 6 April 2011, the current tax and NI savings for childcare vouchers will be restricted for higher rate taxpayers.

| Right to Request Time Off for Training |

A press released has been issued by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills announcing that the right to request time off for training will not be extended to all employees from April, 2011.
