The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has announced the new compensation limits which have as usual been adjusted in line with the Retail Price Index to take effect from 1st February 2012.

The key changes are:

- a week's pay will be £430 (currently £400)
- maximum compensatory award will be£72,300 (currently £68,400)

The Government has now launched consultation on the introduction of proposed fees for employment tribunals.

Justice Minister, Jonathan Djanogly, outlined two possible options, with both giving power to the Tribunal to order the unsuccessful party to reimburse fees paid by the successful party.
