New Family Friendly Rights Announced

On 30th September, the Department for Business, announced that the right to request flexible working to all parents of children under 18 from April 2011 would be introduced as “an interim measure” and that a consultation paper would be launched later this year on extending the right to request flexible working to all employees. The right to request flexible working currently extends only to parents of children under 17 or 18 if the child is disabled, and to carers of certain adults. In the Coalition Agreement, the two parties committed to extending the right to request flexible working to all employees.
